Transform Your Smile with State-of-the-Art Dental Implants

Many people face tooth loss, whether due to decay, periodontal disease, injury, or other factors. If you’re one of the millions of people with extensive tooth loss, this can profoundly affect your daily life. Difficulty chewing, speaking, smiling, and laughing confidently can negatively impact your physical and emotional well-being and cause a hit to your social life and career. But you don’t have to struggle with smile gaps or ill-fitting dentures because advances in implant technology have greatly expanded your choices.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that permanently replaces a missing tooth, composed of the implant post, abutment, and crown. The titanium implant post resembles a screw or cylinder and assumes the role of the missing tooth root after fusing with your jawbone. Dental implants at Gallatin Valley Surgical Arts act as stable anchors, connecting the abutment(s) to the zirconia crown(s), bridge, or full-mouth prosthesis. Our skilled board-certified oral surgeon will assess your individual needs, address your concerns, and guide you through the process with clarity and expertise, whether you need a single implant or full-mouth dental implants in Bozeman, MT.

The Steps Involved in Your Dental Implant Journey

1

Consult & Planning

During your consultation, Dr. Hall will ask about your goals, review your medical history, perform a comprehensive exam, and analyze your needs with diagnostic imaging. In addition to digital X-rays, once it’s established that you’re moving forward, we’ll likely take a 3D image with our cone beam computed tomography to assess your underlying structures and plan precision implant placement.

We will also discuss anesthesia options, provide detailed preoperative guidelines, and share details about the entire process. Before leaving our office, we want to ensure you understand every aspect of your journey to a restored smile with dental implants in Bozeman, MT!

2

The Procedure

Preliminary oral surgery procedures, such as tooth extraction and/or bone grafting, may be necessary before implant placement. During your procedure, Dr. Hall makes small incisions in your gum tissue to expose your jawbone, drills tiny holes in the bone using a special tool, and then precisely places dental implants in predetermined locations.

If you’re getting full-mouth dental implants at Gallatin Valley Surgical Arts, a minimum of four implants are placed in each arch, and you may be fitted with a temporary prosthesis on the same day as surgery, depending on the implant protocol we use.

3

Follow-Up Visits

Follow-up visits are crucial to ensure the healing process progresses and the dental implants fuse correctly with your jawbone. Although uncommon, an aggressive inflammatory process called peri-implantitis can lead to the loss of soft and hard tissue around implants and failure without intervention.

During these visits, Dr. Hall will assess your dental implants, examine your bite alignment, and check for any signs of infection or inflammation. If you received full-mouth dental implants, she’ll check your temporary teeth to ensure they’re comfortable and not causing any issues.

4

Healing & Final Restorations

It typically takes three to six months for dental implants to fuse with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. If you received a single implant, the abutment is installed if it wasn’t placed during implant surgery.

Complete implant integration is mandatory before installing the restorative crown, bridge, or full-mouth prosthesis. If you received full-mouth dental implants, your temporary teeth are replaced with beautifully fabricated zirconia teeth that are color-matched and shaped to look natural and complement your facial aesthetics.
